Retrogrades, Routines & a Drama-Free Monday. Imagine That! LOL
“You can't control every bit of chaos around you, but you sure as hell can decide how you're going to handle it.”
Well, would you look at that! It's Monday morning, there's a chill in the air, the beautiful sun is shining, and for the first time in what feels like WEEKS, my day started with absolutely NO DRAMA!!! LOL. No surprise disasters waiting in my inbox, no frantic messages about something that should have been handled weeks ago, and nobody dropping a giant steaming pile of unnecessary work on my desk before I've even finished my first coffee. I'm almost afraid to say it out loud because I don't want to jinx myself, but damn, it's a nice change! After the last couple of weeks, I'm seriously hoping all that drama got burned up with last night's moon energy and decided to take a permanent vacation somewhere far, FAR away from my office.
Now, I know we're sitting in a whole lot of retrograde energy right now, and if you've followed my journey for any length of time, you already know that astrology is something I pay pretty close attention to. But here's the thing. I've never been one to believe we should spend retrograde seasons hiding under the blankets, waiting for the planets to behave themselves again. Although, after the last couple of weeks, I can certainly understand the temptation. LOL. I'd much rather work WITH the energy than spend my days fighting against it. Because let's face it, I have enough things going on without getting into an argument with the entire solar system!
For me, that means being a little more intentional with my daily routines. Checking for updates on all my technology before I start working, double-checking communications and appointments, making sure things are backed up, and giving myself a little extra breathing room when something doesn't go exactly according to plan. It also means taking care of ME. A little stretching, some breathing exercises, making sure I'm eating nutritious meals instead of surviving on coffee and whatever I can grab between meetings, and taking time for the spiritual and energetic practices that help me feel grounded. And yes, there's a whole lot more to my routine than that, but there's also a whole lot of retrograde energy happening right now. LOL.
After the way last week went, I'm making a conscious effort to start my mornings feeling good instead of immediately allowing everybody else's priorities to determine the direction of my day. I've spent enough mornings lately putting out fires before I've even had a chance to enjoy my coffee, and while I know there will always be unexpected things that pop up when you're running businesses and working with clients, that doesn't mean I have to let every little hiccup turn into a full-blown disaster. Sometimes the best thing I can do is slow down for a few minutes, get myself organized and tackle things one at a time. Well, as close to one at a time as my brain will allow anyway. LOL.
This morning I woke up to check-ins from the girls who are making their way home from Spain, along with previews of their author websites. Considering how much work has gone into getting everything ready for their upcoming book launch, it's pretty damn exciting to see all these pieces finally coming together! Then, while going through my emails, I spotted that Rai had booked a free GHL setup call with my amazing girl Vidya, who is actually the one leading the session. And of course, I want to sit in on that! Not because I need to supervise anything, but because I genuinely love watching Vidya do her thing. She's incredibly talented, and even though we work together all the time, there's always something new I can learn from watching how she approaches things. Besides, how often do I get to sit back, watch somebody else lead the conversation and just soak up a little knowledge? LOL.
But before I jump into that, I wanted to sit down and get today's blog written. So here I am, squeezing in a little writing between my morning dog chores, with my frequencies playing in the background and a few other things happening at the same time. Because apparently sitting down and doing just ONE thing is still not something my brain has figured out how to do. LOL. I've accepted that about myself at this point. Some people need complete silence and absolutely no distractions to concentrate. Me? Give me my music or frequencies, a couple of things to bounce between, and enough activity to keep my brain entertained, and somehow I manage to get things done.
Now, let's talk about this week, because HOLY HELL, it's going to be a busy one!
We've got a major book launch happening, author websites being reviewed, content going out, conversations to have, and all the little details that come along with getting something this important out into the world. And while I'm excited about everything we've got happening, there's one thing I've been very clear about with myself and my team. I do NOT want my clients spending this week overwhelmed, exhausted or feeling like they need to be glued to their computers every waking moment just to keep up.
These women have already put an incredible amount of themselves into this project, and they're coming home from an international trip with all the fun little bonuses that come with travel, time changes, interrupted sleep and trying to get back into a normal routine. The last thing I want is for them to feel like they're stepping off an airplane and straight into a pressure cooker. This is supposed to be an exciting week! They've worked hard to get here, and I want them to have the opportunity to actually ENJOY the experience of launching their book instead of spending the entire time stressed about everything they think they should be doing.
Thankfully, my team and I have already handled the bulk of the technical and content side of things. Websites, graphics, scheduling, behind-the-scenes setup and all those wonderful little pieces that most people never see but that take an unbelievable amount of time to pull together. There's still work to be done, of course, because there always is. LOL. But the majority of what's left for the girls is the stuff that genuinely needs to come from THEM. Their voices, their stories, their conversations and the personal connections that nobody else can make on their behalf.
So this afternoon, I'm going to take a little time to put together a simple game plan for each of them. Nothing complicated, nothing overwhelming and certainly not another giant to-do list that makes them want to throw their phones across the room. LOL. Just a gentle, straightforward outline of what deserves their attention each day. Something they can look at when they wake up in the morning and know, "Okay, THIS is what I need to focus on today." Not the seventeen things happening behind the scenes, not everything that might need to happen next month, and definitely not a pile of tasks that somebody else is already taking care of.
Just today's piece.
Because with a book like Where the Crabapple Blooms, there's a whole lot of emotion wrapped up in this launch. This isn't just another product being released into the world. It's a deeply personal story about love, loss, grief, healing and finding a way to keep blooming even after life has knocked you flat on your ass. The women behind this book have poured their hearts into it, and I want them to have the space to celebrate what they've created. The goal isn't to see how much work we can cram into the next five days. The goal is to make sure the important things get done while still leaving room for them to breathe, rest and actually experience this milestone.
And if I'm being perfectly fair, I could probably stand to take some of my own advice. LOL.
Because here's the other part of this week's plan that I'm pretty damn excited about. Once I've got the girls organized, their daily priorities laid out and my team clear on what needs to happen behind the scenes, I can finally turn my attention back to some NIKI work!
Yes, believe it or not, I actually have a business of my own that needs my attention too. LOL.
I've got programs to finish building, website updates to work through, content to create, new offers coming together and a whole bunch of things that I've been itching to get moving on. November is right around the corner, and I've got some pretty exciting plans for Do The Dang Thang. But as much as I love what I do for my clients, I've also had to recognize that if I continually put my own projects at the bottom of the list, they're going to stay there. And that's not exactly how I intend to build the next chapter of my business.
Which brings me right back to something I've been talking about a lot lately. Boundaries, priorities and learning to work in a way that actually supports the life and business I'm trying to create. Because the truth is, I don't want to stop working hard. I LOVE what I do. I love building things, helping people bring their ideas to life, watching projects come together and seeing somebody's excitement when something they've dreamed about finally becomes real. But I also know that loving what you do doesn't mean you have to sacrifice every minute of your own time to do it.
I'm learning that I can be completely committed to my clients without making myself available for every little thing at every hour of the day. I can support my team without feeling like I need to personally handle every task. I can give somebody a clear plan and trust them to follow through without hovering over their shoulder. And perhaps most importantly, I can make time for my own goals without feeling like I'm somehow taking something away from somebody else.
And honestly, I think that's one of the biggest reasons I'm feeling so good about this morning. Nothing particularly spectacular has happened. The sun is shining, the air is chilly, the dogs still need their usual attention, and my calendar is still packed with things that need to get done. But I woke up feeling calm, excited and ready to tackle what's ahead instead of immediately bracing myself for the next disaster. After the last couple of weeks, that's a pretty wonderful feeling.
Now, am I expecting this entire week to unfold without a single hiccup? Absolutely not. LOL. I'm realistic enough to know that when you've got a book launch, multiple websites, social media content, technology and a whole lot of moving pieces involved, something somewhere is probably going to need adjusting. But there's a pretty big difference between handling a normal little hiccup and allowing every unexpected situation to completely derail your day.
So for now, I'm going to enjoy this beautiful sunshine, finish up my morning dog chores, get my blog posted and jump into the rest of the day's work. There's a whole lot happening this week, and I'm genuinely excited to see how it all comes together.
But first, let's appreciate the fact that it's Monday morning and nobody has made me want to update my resume.
I'd call that a pretty damn good start!
Let's go Do the Dang Thang!
