Taking the Wins
"A bad day is just that... a bad day. It doesn't get to become a bad life."
Good morning.
Apparently today started at 4:00 a.m.
No alarm.
No reason.
Just... wide awake.
Now, could I probably pull up my transit chart and figure out exactly why? Probably. But honestly, I wasn't overly concerned about finding the answer this morning. I made a pot of coffee, let the dogs out, and decided if my body was determined to start the day before the sun came up, I might as well work with it instead of fighting it. Should I have crawled back into bed? Probably. Do I regret getting up? Not even a little.
By the time most people were just starting to think about breakfast, I'd already done my morning walk, fed the dogs, tidied the house, and settled in with my planner to figure out what today actually needed to look like. It didn't take long before I realized I'd dropped a couple of balls this week. Nothing catastrophic. Just little things that slipped through the cracks while life was moving a hundred miles an hour. A few months ago I probably would've beaten myself up over it, convinced myself I was getting behind, and spent more time feeling guilty than actually fixing the problem. This morning I just added them back to the list and thought, "Alright... let's play catch up."
The truth is, my personal life has had a few things happening behind the scenes lately. It's nothing I really need to unpack here because some things belong offline, but they've been enough to keep my nervous system on its toes. Yesterday's buzzing feeling didn't exactly help either. By the end of the day I could feel myself getting close to that point where everything starts to feel heavier than it actually is. So I did something I've gotten much better at over the last year. I had the conversations that needed to happen.
Did every one of them go the way I hoped?
No.
Not even close.
But here's the thing I've learned.
Not every conversation is meant to be tied up with a pretty little bow by the end of the day. Sometimes people need time. Sometimes situations need space. Sometimes the only thing you can control is showing up honestly, saying what needs to be said, and trusting that the rest will unfold the way it's meant to.
The funny part is that while a couple conversations were hard, others were absolutely incredible. There were breakthroughs. There was laughter. There were moments where I hung up the phone thinking, "Damn... that went even better than I imagined." And that's when it hit me. Isn't it funny how our brains want to spend ninety percent of their energy replaying the conversations that didn't go well, while barely acknowledging the ones that did?
Not anymore.
I've worked way too hard to give one difficult moment the power to erase ten really beautiful ones.
So today I'm choosing to take the wins.
I'm choosing to celebrate the clients that are growing, the businesses that are evolving, the ideas that continue to flow, and the fact that even though life feels a little messy right now, I still genuinely love the life I'm building. The rest... well... it'll work itself out. It always does.
As I sit here writing this with my second cup of coffee beside me and my AO Scan quietly running some frequencies in the background, I'm realizing that today doesn't need to be another push day. It doesn't need to be another day where I prove how much I can accomplish or how many things I can cross off my list. Today feels like one of those days where my nervous system is asking for a little extra attention. A little more grounding. A little more grace. A little less rushing.
The work will still get done.
The list will still be there.
The launches aren't going anywhere.
But if there's one thing this Mercury Retrograde has been teaching me, it's that taking care of the person building the business is just as important as taking care of the business itself.
So that's exactly what I'm going to do.
I'm going to get organized.
I'm going to get grounded.
And I'm going to take the wins.
Because they're there...
Sometimes we just have to remember to look for them.
