How Taking a Break Can Improve Your Productivity

A Day Off … Then Right Back In It

April 30, 20263 min read

“You don’t lose momentum by living your life - you build it.”

So yeah … there was no blog yesterday.

And honestly? That was intentional, even if it wasn’t planned that way going into the day. It turned into one of those out-of-office, run to the city with hubby kind of days. Doctors appointments, more tests, a nice lunch just the two of us, and a bit of shopping mixed in there as well.

And it was actually really nice.

The kind of nice that you don’t realize you needed until you’re in it. The weather finally cooperated for once, and we even took a drive by the lake I grew up near. Just seeing it again, being in that space for a few minutes, it brought up that quiet kind of nostalgia that you don’t always expect but also don’t rush away from.

It just felt good.

And I think that’s something I’m getting a lot better at - letting those days be what they are without feeling like I need to compensate for them later.

Because now?

Today is a completely different energy.

Today is very much a “back at it” kind of day. Balls to the walls, hair slicked back, let’s go. But even that feels different when it comes off the back of a day where you actually stepped away and lived a little.

And the added bonus? It’s warm enough outside to finally open the windows and air this old house out, which just shifts everything. There’s something about fresh air moving through the space that makes it feel like you’re resetting more than just your to-do list.

On the business side of things, today is a big one.

It’s the final beta testing day for Backwards to BadAss, and honestly, the feedback so far has been better than I expected. Not just “this is good” kind of feedback, but the kind where people are saying this is actually needed. Like it’s filling a gap they didn’t even fully realize was there until they started going through it.

And that part hits.

Because this is exactly why I opened it up the way I did. I could’ve just quietly built it, recorded everything, and launched it as a finished product, but letting a small group of friends and family go through it first? That was the right call.

The tweaks that have come out of it haven’t been major overhauls either. It’s more about refining the delivery, adjusting how the videos are structured, and making sure the flow feels as strong as the content itself. Which, in the grand scheme of things, just means some light updates to the workbooks and a bit of reworking on my end before everything gets locked in.

And that actually feels really good.

Because once today wraps up, I already know what the next phase looks like. I’ll be head down finishing off the website, getting everything tightened up and ready, and then this weekend is all about recording.

No more sitting on it. No more “I’ll get to it.”

Just getting it done.

And I think that’s the biggest shift in all of this. It’s not rushed, it’s not frantic, it’s just clear. Like each step is already laid out, and all I have to do is move through it.

So yeah … yesterday was a step back.

Today?

We step forward.

And honestly, it feels like everything is lining up exactly the way it’s supposed to.
